Privacy and Confidentiality

Your privacy matters here

At Theo’s Place, your privacy matters. I aim to create a space where you can feel safe sharing openly, knowing that your information is handled with care and respect.

Confidentiality

What you share in counseling is kept confidential and will not be shared without your consent, except in a few limited situations where I may be legally or ethically required to do so.

Confidentiality may be broken only in limited situations, such as:

  • If there is a serious risk of harm to you or someone else.
  • If abuse or neglect is suspected.
  • If I am required to share information by law or court order.

If any of these situations arise, I will do my best to handle them thoughtfully and transparently.

Your information

I take care to protect your personal information, communication details, and session-related notes. Any contact you make through the website, WhatsApp, or email is treated with respect and handled as privately as possible. Clinical notes are typed, printed out and stored securely in physical, locked files and are not kept on cloud servers or digital databases.

Online communication

Because Theo’s Place works online, I encourage you to contact me from a private and safe space whenever possible. While I take care to use secure and thoughtful communication methods, no online system is completely risk-free.

Confidentiality is an important part of counseling because it helps build trust. My intention is to create a space where you can speak freely and feel supported, while also being clear about the small number of situations where privacy may need to be limited.

Digital communication and risks

While I take care to protect your information, no internet communication is completely risk-free. Communication via email, phone, or WhatsApp is subject to the security practices of those external services. You may request access to, correction of, or erasure of your personal data and withdraw your consent at any time by contacting me using the contact details on this website.

Other ethical provisions that guide our work together, including the specifics of informed consent, are shared with you in the informed consent document, and will also be communicated verbally during our first session.
