What to expect
A calm, collaborative process
At Theo’s Place, I aim to offer a space that feels calm, respectful, and supportive. Counseling is a collaborative process, which means we work together to understand your concerns and explore what may help you best.
Getting started
Your first session
Your first session is usually about getting to know you and understanding what brings you to counseling. You may share as much or as little as you feel comfortable with, and there is no pressure to tell your story all at once. This is also a time for you to ask questions and get a sense of whether this feels like the right space for you.
Ongoing sessions

Common questions
Before you reach out
Is online counseling as effective as meeting in person?
For many concerns, online counseling can be just as effective as meeting in person. What matters most is having a consistent, comfortable space to talk, which video sessions can support well.
What happens in the first session?
It is mostly about getting to know each other. You can share as much or as little as feels comfortable, and there is space for you to ask any questions you have too.
How often will we meet?
This is something we will decide together based on what feels right for you and what you are working through.
What do I need for our online sessions?
Just a private space, a stable internet connection, and a phone or computer for video calling. I will share simple joining details once your session is set up.
Is what I share with you confidential?
Yes, with a few limited exceptions that any counsellor follows. You can read the details on the Privacy and Confidentiality page.
Can I stop or pause whenever I want?
Yes. Counseling works best at a pace that respects your comfort and readiness, and that includes deciding when to pause or stop.
